External Relations Team Lead
My name is Ivy Murphy and I grew up on the creeks and farms of Bedford, a small southern Indiana town. Being a Hoosier fan since I can remember, my only option was to attend my dream school, Indiana University. I decided to pursue a major in Informatics with a minor in Computer Science and a Human Centered-Computer cognate. My schedule is busy but with my free time I enjoy spending my time outdoors hiking or paddle boarding on Lake Monroe, when the weather cooperates.

This is my third semester as a part of the ServeIT team, but my first being a team lead. I feel very strongly about giving back to my community and feel as though I have much to contribute from the skills and knowledge I learned here at IU and within SoIC. I am currently leading the External Relations team and will be working on developing ServeIT’s website, it’s outreach on social media, and it’s clients with their social media. We are also excited to develop a video of the clinic and its members this semester. I am much looking forward to developing my own skills and helping others’ understanding as we all work together to shape a greater community.

Taraneh Ekbia

External Relations Intern
I’m Taraneh Ekbia, a current senior at Indiana University, shooting for my B.S. in Informatics and Computing, with a cognate in the Media School. I’ve been in Bloomington majority of my life and while I look forward to seeing the rest of the world, I’m enjoying my last year in my hometown before graduating and ending four exceptional years at this university.

This is my fourth semester as a ServeIT intern and I will be completing this semester as part of my Capstone. I will be taking on a few leadership roles on the External Relations team and will hopefully help to improve the image of the clinic as well as the clients we serve. So far, this clinic has helped shape me into a reliable, organized, and motivated person. I look forward to future lessons and endless opportunities this clinic brings.

Shirley Hu

External Relations Intern
My name is Shirley Hu, and I am from China! I have come to the States for a few years now and enjoy the people and culture here. Coming into computer science major, I had no prior experience, yet I found myself fall in love with this field during the process of pursuing my degree. I tend to leave myself a lot of free time, so that I can allow my interests such as developing Android applications to flourish. My hobbies are hiking, going on adventures, and reading. I visit National Parks as chances permitted.

This is my second semester in ServeIT and External Relationships. I admire the atmosphere here where people from diverse backgrounds have a chance to collaborate interdisciplinary. Additionally, ServeIT allows us to give back to IU’s hometown by our technical services and volunteer work, which is also something I appreciate. My team currently is responsible for maintaining ServeIT official site and social media, building and maintaining clients’ websites, teaching clients to establish their outreach strategies through workshops. We are also making a video this semester for ServeIT for outreach purpose. I am looking forward to work with my team to serve Bloomington with our specialties!

My hobbies consist of soccer, golf, hunting, and fishing. I am involved in a handful of groups here at IU such as Mulligan Club, and Sigma Alpha Epsilon.

This will be my third semester in Serve IT and I am really looking forward to being a part of this great program again. I am hoping to gain real world knowledge that can not be taught in the classroom, all while helping the community. I am part of the External Relations team. We are in charge of creating first impressions for ServeIT. We do this by updating and maintaining our website and social media accounts. I believe in what we do, and am excited to see where this semester goes.

Krishan Narsinghani

External Relations Intern
My name is Krishan Narsinghani, a junior studying Informatics (Cognate-Business) with minors in Business and Marketing. I grew up in Columbus, Indiana surrounded by tons of family and learned how to handle a small business from a young age. My passion for Business and Informatics will hopefully lead me to a career in Project Management, Marketing for an IT firm, or Marketing in the music industry. I love to sing, write, and produce in my free time.

My first semester with ServeIT, I was on Fund Development where I helped research different grants to apply to and drafted different proposals. This second semester on External Relations I am excited to learn new marketing skills and work with different kinds of people. Along with ServeIT, I also help coordinate marketing tactics and brand a magazine based out of Los Angeles. I hope to incorporate what I have learned into ServeIT. I plan to help build our website and plan campaigns for clients’ social media. I will help create ways to keep ServeIT interactive through the media. I am looking forward to this semester and getting to know great people.

 Sarah Leisure

External Relations Intern
During this semester in ServeIT I would love to do more technical work as well as creative thinking while coming up with project ideas. Our team mentioned having creative freedom on the projects we accomplish this semester, and I think working on an advertisement video for ServeIT would be fun to do. I’m also interested and excited to get more involved with networking and being involved in meetings for ServeIT in order to prepare myself for the real world after college. Overall my goal is to be more involved with the internship this semester as I have come to appreciate all the opportunities ServeIT can offer to students like me.
